The Senior men at Royals have been and continue to be one of the top performing provincial men’s squads in the country, while continuing a reputation as the largest Senior Rowing programme in the North West.

The Senior Men are fed into by our growing Learn to Row, Novice and Intermediate squads and new recruits. In the 2020/21 HRR campaign, they featured; LTR graduates, previous School rowers, young masters, previous Students rowers and Royals Juniors.

In 2021 the Senior Men have maintained a tradition of qualifying 2 boats at Henley Royal Regatta. This is something they have achieved at every regatta since 2014, having qualified at least one crew at each event since 2009.

The ‘21 squad featured 18 athletes, 7 of which were competing at their first HRR. Many of which joined Royals in the past 12months with the aim of qualifying at HRR.

Henley forms only part of the racing calendar, along side this the Senior Men have achieved:

  • Wins in recent years across the Metropolitan and Marlow regattas, in various categories.

  • Win at the inaugural Power8 Sprints in 2018.

  • Consistent top 50 finishes at the Head of the River Race (top 100 for our 2V).

  •  Wins at various local races, including our own North of England Head.

Having had consistent performances for so long, they are now determined to breakthrough  with the aim of converting consistent performances into wins at Henley Royal Regatta.
