Royals completed Tideway season in style, with three crews taking to the water on Sunday for the Vesta Master’s Head of the River.
In an outstanding victory, a composite Masters A Royal Chester/Kingston RC boat, made up almost entirely of the Royals crew that won the Jackson trophy the day before, secured the overall Headship in another quick time of 17:33.4. Racing some extremely strong crews on their home water, this win sets the whole squad up for a very exciting summer season.
The Masters F 8+ came 5th in their category and 55th overall. Guest cox Jack Tottem contributed to a great row, which was the culmination of a reformed squad and a solid winter training period. Along with wins at Runcorn Head and North of England Head, this sets the scene for an exciting regatta season.
The Women’s Masters F 8+ came 4th in their category, completing the course in a time of 22:45.2. It was another strong row for this growing squad, improving again on their great racing performance so far this season.
Congratulations to every crew that has raced the Tideway for Royals this March - it has been a banner year for the club, and this is testament to the hard work of the coaches, athletes, and volunteers that make this club so great.
